Air compressor leakage.

Recently I bought brand new Makita MAC2400 air compressor. Unpacked, broke it in and put it for little work. Seems everything is fine. Decided to check it for leakage, because I frequently see that people complain about that for different compressor. I switched my compressor on until it shut off by itself. It got 140 PSI. I switched it off. After couple hours I checked the pressure and it dropped to 120 PSI. During that test, nothing was attached to it, not even hoses.
Is it considered a leaky compressor? What is you experience?

All depends, but should be fairly easy to figure out.

- Now that its winter aka cold any chance that you ran the compressor in the garage ? If so then the compressed air could cooled off resulting in less pressure.
- A simple soap solution could be applied at the drain valve etc to see if there is leakage.

Yep! It seems the case. Yesterday evening it was 140 and dropped to 120. I just to my garage and checked the pressure again, it is 124. Looks like temperature variations and the compressor does not leak. [big grin]
