Air Tags for loss prevention

I have the Apple “Locate My” app. I find it handy.

I recently bought blue tooth ear buds. An aftermarket version ($10.00 each) that is Apple certified. I had no problem linking the air tag to the app. My problem is I cannot figure out how to attach the air tag to the earbud case.

I can’t glue it. On one side there is a button to press to link the air tag to the app. And access to the other side is required to replace the battery, which is supposed to last 2 years.

It came with a cable that attaches easily to the air tag. But how to attach that cable to the charging case. It won’t fit inside. The hinges are so precise that the extremely thin cables prevent the case from closing.

Maybe epoxy a d-ring to the exterior of the case??

So far, this is my best effort. While it is pretty secure when the earbuds are in the case, I am fairly certain that the tag will wander off when they are not in the case. I really need a better solution.

One idea is adding an aftermarket protective case option with a lanyard loop?

Or add an aftermarket case and glue the ugreen tag to the case. Neither really support ‘theft prevention’ but if you misplace them they offer some hope of more easily finding them.

That case opens the wrong direction. The hinge on mine is along the narrow side. I will look to see if there is a case that would work.

I have some mesh zippered bags. If they are large enough that might work. I’ll check. Thanks—I was about to epoxy on a D-ring—which I really did not want to do.

Well, the case and AirTag fit neatly in the mesh bag. I can, in fact, tuck the case and air tag inside the zipped bag.

And with everything neatly tucked inside. These bags add almost no weight or bulk and have proven to be quite durable. I’ve been using them for over a year to organize my charging cables and (previously) my wired earbuds.

I am satisfied with this solution. Thanks to Mcfal for the concept. I already had the bag.
