Airstack--Any reviews ?

Has anyone seen any reviews on the recently introduced Systainer based Rolair Airstack?  In particular I'm wondering if there exist any direct head to head real world comaprisons between it and the Rolair JC10 Plus.

I talked to the folks at Rolair a few months back and asked them if it was a rebranded Schneider.  They told me it was not, but was a very similar system built for them by one of their "partner companies".  With Schneider's excellent reputation, I was hoping that they were the producer.  I'm wondering if the Schneider unit is also built by someone else for them?

All I can say is that I waited for the thing soooo long... [emoji16]It's finally here! I got mine from Tool Nut and I was very impressed with the quality of the unit. I have only fired it up and checked it out for problems so far. It's fairly quiet. There's a lot of room in the systainer cord storage area for possibly a small coil hose and even a small inflation tool and blow gun....

I'm an old Emglo guy, and I have been lugging the small unit around for a while, up and down stairs, hills, in and out of trucks, they just won't die. At 62 pounds it was starting to kill me. The Rolair is 28 pounds. Way more manageable. Add a Sys Roll to the mix and I can make up a trim nailer cart with my Cadex systainers on top!

The unit was made in Italy according to the documentation for the compressor itself. I know the Italians are regarded as making a really good pump, so I like that.

I'll be using it for some kitchen crown, light rail and toe kick soon and will try to update here.

Interesting, I didn't know the Airstak is made in Italy.  The Cadex systainer compressors are also made there.

Thanks for the post. I was ready to pull the trigger when the Cadex was announced 18? Months ago. Now I still want one but can’t decide if I should get the Rolair or order the larger Cadex from Canada.

Decisions decisions decisions.

Used the Rolair Air Stak this week for some crown. Mounted on a Sys Roll with the Cadex 18 GA  and 21 GA, it rolled up and down stairs nicely... It chugs away like a larger Rolair! Very soothing. [emoji106]

I’ve been on the fence with the Rollie compressor but acme tools.com has a 15% off coupon through the 4th that can be applied. It might just be enough to push me to buy.

Before I do, I know there’s a premium for the form factor. Putting that aside, is there’s something I should consider in the same price range?

I decided to go with the Rolair JC10 Plus instead of the Airstack.  It only qualified for 10% at Acme, but it is more compressor for half the cost, is quieter at 60 dB and has a slightly larger capacity  sans the Airstack form factor.  The JC10 plus gets great reviews and has been proven over the test of time and is still quite compact.  I pulled the trigger yesterday  [big grin]

Good points. Appreciate your reply.

I’ve been eyeing the JC10 too. Overall it’s a better machine and value. Only thing it doesn’t have is the form factor.

Specs on Tool it say 70db but the picture clearly shows 95db...or does it mean something else?  I don’t know what LWA is above it or if it’s relevant.  I like the idea of a compressor within a systainer but If it’s loud it won’t be as desirable (already have one of those).  95db is loud.

Noticeably  louder than a JC10, Also this will not be able to be placed on a finished floor as i watched it agitate across the counter

I don't know how it compares to the Airstack, but when I used a sound meter app I installed on my phone to test my new Cadex in a Sys4 against my older JC10, they were both one or two DB's to each other in and around the 70db level.  Both were tested on the same very solid bolted to a wall table and the same distance from the phone itself multiple times.  Moving the phone away 4-5 feet made no difference in the db rating level readings.

Phones suck as DB meters. Such an app is a gimmick and the fancy display usually has nothing to do with reality.

According to Rolair, the 95 is inaccurate and pertains to the model sold in Europe. The db rating for the U.S. model is 70.

Even if the app isn’t accurate. To your ear how did each sound?  I know my JC10 is about as quiet a compressor as you can get. People keep saying the  Rolair Systainer is not quit which is making me lean towards the Cadex

They both are fairly quiet and similar in sound level to the ear.  The difference  is in the sound itself.  The JC10 has a more bass like sound to it whereas the Cadex has a more prrrrt sound to it.  Neither is annoying or seem loudish, they just sound a little different from one another.

The big difference between the two is recharge time.  The JC10 takes a full minute to charge from empty, whereas the Cadex 4 takes 15 seconds.  I think this is a combo of factors.  The JC10 has a somewhat larger tank capicity, but the RPMs of the motor pump on the Cadex runs at twice as fast of the RPMs of the Rolair.

I'm going a bit from my memory from a few months ago when I was evaluating all this, but IIRC the Cadex is 3.8 at 90 psi whereas the Rolair is 2.3 @ 90.

Are the cut-in cut-out preassures the same?

Based on the rpm I would also expect the jc10 to live longer or require less maintenance long term.
