Had to share this just because I got a kick out of it. I made these cabinets for a client and told them they had to send me pictures of the kitchen after they painted the walls. I had no idea they had an appreciation for green too!!!
Good I'm not the only one! The quality and customness (yea i just coined that) are way too high for the rest of the work in that kitchen. The space, paint, countertops and appliances all scream low grade and your cabinets are obviously a one-off. Some people!
These cabinets were literally almost the death of me in more ways than one. I can only take credit for the cabinets and some of the drywall work, the rest of the mess was on the owner. I had a panic attack when I saw the hole drilled in the side of the cabinet for the extension cord. The customer was really salivating over my kapex though... I think that is where he got the inspiration for the paint, he just missed the shade.
Thanks for the compliments on the cabinets. There were a lot of things I would have done differently it were my kitchen, but the customness dictated otherwise. Sorry, rizzoa13 the word was just too fitting ;D

Those cabinets look very nice is that spalted maple or hickory for the doors? Great job they look awesome.
The species is wormy maple, this was a request of the homeowner as is the raised panels and edge profiles. They had some other wormy maple furniture and they wanted this to match. It is a really small kitchen and they were adamant on having a dishwasher and room for a 36" fridge. They also wanted a pantry... a really tall pantry. I suggested they tear out the soffit over the cabinets, but they wanted to keep it, so I agreed to extend the soffit a few inches over the fridge opening. I had a hard time finding wormy maple in close vicinity, fortunately I did find a few boards to do this project. If I had more lumber I would be been more conscious of grain patterns.
I do a lot of work for an investor who flips houses and sold this house to the current owner. He ALWAYS uses the same colors in each kitchen and they are bad. It is like a mauve and a bright red and he always puts it in the kitchen. This client kept telling me how much they HATED the colors. When I left the kitchen, it looked like this.

I did get one picture of the pantry after they had the counters installed. I almost cried when they went for the laminate. I had already shot some texture for the soffit extension, but the original colors colors are visible. The red was bad, but I'm not sure green was the appropriate substitute. [eek]
