Has anyone submitted a claim to the American Express Extended Warranty program for repair or replacement of a motorized tool?  Was it paid or refused?

I was disappointed to read "motorized devices and their parts used for agriculture, landscaping, demolition or construction" are excluded from coverage.

I am hoping this thread can stick to direct experience rather than discuss the dubious value of extended warranties and American Express.

Dont know about motorized tool.  But this amex warranty has come through for me for a camera that was out of the 1 year warranty. They just paid me back the full amount, no hassles.

I have also used AMEX for a warranty on a camera and they paid full amount of repairs.

Looks like power tools are not covered, unfortunately.  Might be worth a call as it says for 'construction' - if something is used for home repair, that may not be 'construction' which might imply commercial use.  So you might want to call and ask the question.

This must be for non-Festool item you own since they already have a 3 year warranty.

I had the same concern when buying some recent tools - so I actually called and spoke with someone

1-800 255-3750 (extended warranty dept)

When I read "Motorized Devices...used for construction"  My thoughts were they were talking about internal combustion type motors - not electric motors.  The representative I spoke too also felt the same way and *believes* electric hand tools, table saws, etc would be covered.  BUT that determination has to be made by a licensed claim representative and you would only find out after you made the claim...

My experience with filing claims has been good - completely paid for a $350 computer monitor that failed, my wife cracked the screen on her Galaxy Note 2 cell phone within the 90 day accidental damage time frame and they refunded us the full amount that we paid.
