An upgrade for the shop

Hello All,

It's not often that I get to make something for me and my shop. Between the wife and kids and grand kids, I don't get much time for "me projects". This old bench and I have shared a lot of quality time over the years. It was a gift back in 1980, very well built, likely older that me. But it was just not very storage friendly. There were shelves behind the lower doors which tended to accumulate junk.

When I cleaned that thing out I found stuff that I had long ago forgotten. What I wanted was more drawers to help with organization. So I built these. The cabs are from pre-finished maple ply dominoed together. Drawers are Baltic birch with full extension 100 lb slides. Drawer fronts are also pre-finished maple.

I know it's not an heirloom, but I'm hoping it will promote some semblance of organization. And I even have a few empty drawers that are just begging to be filled.

Cheers,
Barney

Nice upgrade!  Drawers are great for storing tools.  How deep are those?  look to be 18" or deeper!

Nice, I’ve repurposed kitchen cabinets into storage cabinets for the basement. A little bit of this and a little bit of that and it’s done.

Nice job.  [big grin]

It’s so easy and yet so rewarding.  [smile]

Nice job. Now if you had only enclosed a better pic of that woodworking bench!
