Was just wondering if anyone has used both and what they recommend. I can't find anything about how they compare. Is one better all around or is one better in certain situations or are they completely different? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm pretty new to Festool and finding there's a lot to learn. Thanks in advance.

The MFT/3 protractor (CMS miter gauge) mounts to a side extrusion on the MFT/3 and then is set-up with respect to the guide rail that also mounts to a side extrusion on the MFT/3.

The angle stop mounts to the guide rail, as shown in the picture above, and then establishes the angle of the guide rail with respect to an edge of the work piece.

Another option instead of the angle stop would be the TSO Products MTR-18 and MTR-X precision triangle sets.

I see. Thank you for the clarification. This helps a lot!

Yes. This compared to the miter that comes in the MFT/3 set.
Gotcha. FWIW, I stopped using my MFT protractor entirely as soon as I got that one above. It's actually for sale on the classifieds here right now haha.
