My wife and I were planning on spending last week skiing in Sun Valley, ID. A few weeks ago I was reading [member=18233]jbasen[/member] 's post on his 3D Printed TS-75 Cover Plate. I noticed in his signature he was from Hailey which is 15 minutes south of SV. Never had been to Idaho before so I reached out to him via PM to see if he could recommend any good restaurants, activities, etc.
Not only did he send me a very detailed and thoughtful list of good restaurants and also places to avoid, but he offered to be our guide skiing on our first day. Come to find out, he has retired early and is living the ski-bum/ Festoolaholics dream, dividing his time skiing on arguably one of the best mountains in the country, working in his woodshop and cycling, hiking in between. He skied over 120 days last year and is approaching 100 days this year!
Then after showing us the ropes on the slopes on day one, we met he and his lovely wife for dinner at their favorite restaurant later in the week. Although we were not able to make it, they even invited us to their home for dinner on our last night in town. They're a great couple and both very interesting people and awesome skiers, we enjoyed our time together greatly.
We would have never had the opportunity to meet such nice people if not for the FOG. What a great resource, in more ways than one! Here's a selfie of us riding the chair. I'm the handsome devil in the foreground. Thanks for everything, Jay ....and to the FOG for putting us together!
