Another HL 850 question -- parallelness of parallel stop

Another question about my new HL 850 -- is the parallel stop supposed to be slightly skewed to the base, as pictured below?  The indentation where the screw knob fits into is dead on 90 to the sole, so it is the parallel stop itself that is out of 90.  If this is, indeed, correct, what is the functional reason for it being so?

It is not meant to be a reference edge but rather a gude edge and therefore 90 degrees is not required. It is designed to keep the plane centerd on narrow edges like doors etc. where the plane may drift right or left creating a shoulder. The angle stop for the 850 is designed as a reference edge.
If it bugs you just bend it parallel to the side with a pair of pliers. The metal is fairly soft.

Mine was off similar to the pics. I just bent it back straighter a tad. As mentioned above, its only a guide so not needed to be perfect in this case.

Got it.  Thanks.
