Hi Guys,

As I don't yet own a 1400 router, I was wondering if anyone who does can tell me the diameter and hole spacing of the guide rails.

Thanks

PS. I don't wish to teach my Grandmother to suck eggs, but an easy way to determine the hole spacing is to drop a digital, or vernier, caliper over both bars and subtract the diameter of one of the bars.

Hi Folks,
I just ordered the 1400 Router - can anyone tell me if it can use Right Hand Bits?    I'm assuming it does - just like to confirm before I order some specialty bits for it.  Thanks!

Yeah, right hand bits only.  Left hand ones only for machines that have a reverse function.

Easier way to find the on center--measure from the inside of one to the outside of the other.

Unless you have a special caliper with one jaw facing in the other facing out, it would be the most inaccurate way of measuring it.  [wink]
You can either measure inside to inside or outside to outside and add or subtract the diameter of one rod, respectively.

Thanks for the info. It is a shame that although Festool use the standard 8mm diameter bars they have gone for a non standard hole spacing and not 84mm as used by Elu, Dewalt and Trend to name a few popular brands.  Shame as I have quite a few Elu accessories, this means that the I may have to re-think this.

Thanks anyway guys

There is a workaround that some other members have done, can't remember what the thread was called but one way is to use a De-Walt guiderail attachment with some UHMw tape to make up the difference in the guiderail size.

Then someone else made up an adapter to change from the De-Walt size to the Festool has to be different just for the sake of it size.
