Anyone ever bring a systainer/tools on a flight?

I am in the beautiful city of Portland, Or for the holiday weekend so I stopped by Woodcrafters and it occurred to me that I could make a tax free impulse purchase (no sales tax in OR versus almost 10% in CA) and save some money. So out comes my new Domino XL (in a systainer 5) and an additional systainer filled with domino's. I'll box it if I have too but I was curious if any of you have ever traveled with a Festool as a carry on? Will they let me on the plane with it?

Btw, if you are ever in Portland, Woodcrafters is one of the most amazing places I've been. They carry pretty much everything you could ever dream of.....outstanding tool and lumber selection.

I am fairly certain that you will need to box it up. If it was a sander, you might have some luck but better to be safe than sorry.

See if Woodcrafters can ship it for you. Or at least box it up.

Congrats. Bryan.

I have been successful with systainers with non-tool contents.
You'll certainly need to check most of it in.

You have to love TSA.

I fly out of Atlanta, Ga and there have been many situations of valuables missing from checked bags. I'd recommend having the store UPS the stuff to you. I don't think Atlanta is unique in this deplorable aspect of air security.

It would be really sad to find an empty Sustainer on the carousel.

I keep reading this as "ever taken a systainer to a tool fight?" [embarassed]

Nope but iv'e taken cake to a martial arts completion, does that count?

Regarding air travel, I have frequently brought tools back from the UK to Aus.
The tools are always wrapped up well and carried inside my suitcase. The empty Syatainer or toolbox I carry on and stuff with the type of things you would carry on as hand luggage.
Brought some Festool accessories back from Chicago last year but these weren't tools.
I' m not sure what it is with the TSA but every country in the world has airport security and most do it with dignity, but the TSA seem to go out of their way to make air travell to the states as unpleasant as possible. They seem to like to employe very large people who lke Shouting and pushing people like they are cattle. It's  certainly now the low point of any USA trip.

Just wanted to thank you guys. Wound up getting a box and some tape for $4 and got my Domino XL home and in one piece. Man this thing is awesome. I hope to post some finished project photos soon.
