Anyone ever try using a 3 way diverter valve as a blast gate for 2 ports?

If you look at the inside of that my guess is that restriction would be an issue.

I'm not familiar with such valves, and your point is valid. The ideal configuration is a y or 3 way connector,  not right angle for max flow. Maybe someone can 3d print such kind of diverter valve? It'd be a great fitting on a dust deputy that is shared by two machines.

After a bit of further search, I found this 3-way valve which might work as a blast gate for two hoses (for use with a shop vac/dust deputy setup) given its larger diameters

(This one is prohibitive in cost for it to be considered:https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00P9EOKN0?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_dp_NXRPFCDM1RXMCBS3H9X2)

I'd report how it goes if I could get one of those. I tried but failed to find any Y connector that had a similar shut-off feature.

Thanks, Ed.

I'm looking for 2" (or 2-1/2") dia. fittings, ones that just need one "dial" to switch between two ports.

The Wye branch needs to close one gate and open another to effect the change of ports. It is similar to what I was thinking of fabricating, using a Y-connector with two 2-1/2" blast gates (for about $20 Cdn in total costs), but decided against it.

I finally got hold of a 40mm dia. three-way PVC valve, and used it with a Dust Deputy and two dust ports, something like this.

I had great success in controlling the airflow to either one or both of the ports, BUT:

the valve became hard to turn afterwards (dust jamming?). I soaked it in a bath of hot water, and it loosened up immediately.

Does anyone know a non-stick lubricant that works for the PVC diverter?
