Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've been here.  Instead of building the 30x30 garage that I had dreamt of, I decided to sell my home and move.  Then, after some discussions with family, I'm taking a big risk by moving to Dallas, TX.

Now that things are coming along, I was wondering: anyone in this forum live in or around Dallas?  If so, where do you get your lumber?  I prefer rough sawn since I don't mind the work of bringing it to S4S.  I'm not familiar with the area, what species are available, and how best to procure rough sawn lumber inexpensively (most lumber yards charge a bit too much for my taste).

Thanks!

I live a little north of Dallas. I have been happy with Central Hardwoods.
Wide selection of hardwoods and sheet goods. Nice website.

How's their prices?  I'm currently in MN and found a local sawyer who charges $2.00/bf for cherry, so I'm a tad spoiled on prices.  What's the best way to find local sawyers in the area?

Hardwood lumber company.

Pretty good prices, I think they will joint one side for free - but don't quote me.

They let you sort through the lumber stack to pick the boards you want, and they're nice folks.
