Quote from Bunnys bolts

Just to let you know we have a FESTOOL MORNING on Saturday 9th April from 9.30-12.30. John Street and Tom Hyslop from FESTOOL will be in attendance and if you fancy spending a few hours checking out the newly launched products, spring campaigns and existing products please give us a call to book your place. Places are limited and you will be expected to be here for the whole morning while the guys run through all the new products. However we will, as usual, supply tea, coffee and half-time frankfurter hot-dogs!

Call us now on 01483 727227, pay for your £10 ticket (refunded on the day), and see you in April!

I wasn't surewhere they were, but I've just checked and it'd be a 450 mile round-trip for me (about 4 hrs each way). I like Festool, but..... [eek]

I'd travel that far for a Festool-USA-style 2 day training course, but not for 3 hours!

will some one explain where they are there that they can ship festool to other eu countrys. they lost my custom when they wouldnt ship to me [sad] [sad]

Der was no reason for him not to ship appart from not being bothered i think.  I think he must want  easy and just deal with local customers cus you don't get a warm feeling from him I think like you wann come back and order more well I don't.

You used Rexcrystals didn't you? Didn't he offer wa u wanted at a very good price?

Jmb

yes i used rex crystals. (JMBs on comision [huh] [big grin] i think). good prices. cheapest shipping around 9 .5 gbp compared to 140gbp from d+m.
bunnys lost my custom and wont get it back probably. terible website too ,, no explinations of stuff.

yeah you best be!   lol I have been on kitchens aswell!  im working on 3 different kitchens at the moment. Funny really!  1 kitchen if from Howdens  1 from Ikea and 1 from Homebase.

Home base is terrible if you make alterations well this client has! Gotta wait 3 weeks for the bits so I cant finish of the kitchen! Howdens designed the kitchen for 450 dishwasher and 150 wine rack told the client they could not have a 600 dishwasher. I Decided not to fit the wine rack I fitted it on the end of the unit on the other side of the kitchen and im going into Howdens 2moro swapping the 450 for 600 and asking y they told him a 600 wouldnt fit cus dont know but 450 plus 150 makes 600 no? I know I wont have to wait 3 weeks to swap the door with howdens that y I love howdens!

JMB

Howdens really good to deal with.  Absolutely hate Homebase kitchens, pile of crap.  You are lucky you can get bits in 3 weeks.  Up here it takes 6 weeks to get any replacement bits & even then they usually get it wrong  [mad]

I refuse to do Hombase kitchens now.

What is the Ikea kitchens like ?  Never fitted them but i hear they are good ?

Well Im working on a Day rate so not really bothered I have to wait 3 weeks im gettin paid for all them days! Only joking.  No really if I was on a price I wouldnt be very happy to be honest.

Ikea well I only fitted 3 Ikea kitchens and that was all for one job.   Well when it came to swap stuff that was fine just like howdens! The hinges and draw runners well they are LOADS better than howdens.   The things I HATE about Ikea! 1. The backs are alot thinner than howdens and start to bow with slight moist air so you have to put LOADS of little nails which come with the units on the backs which aint really great cus the back panels dont go into a groove (like Home base and Howdens do) they go flat on the back so der is no void thats the second thing I hate about Ikea if your walls are not straight or level you can not scribe the units as the backs fixed on the back so nothing you can do. End panels are really thin only 12mm.  Oh like homebase they come as flat pack and have a crap number system you have to check the list to see what is what. Howdens have everything clearly stated what is what. Oh the units with Ikea you have to work out your self where to put the draw runners they have no predrilled holes. Home base do have predrilled holes well their units are full of predrilled holes everywhere lol

jmb, the drawer runners that ikea use are blum  and the drawer runners the howdens use are ... blum they are the same-unless they spec the basic runners which are naff.

I know but the lower budget kitchen from howdens come with crap runners never looked if they where blum but they are deffos the lower specs they are pre fitted in the units! When howdens give you the decent blum runners you have to fit them your self no pre drilled holes.  Same with the hinges the lower budget come with crap hinges the ones you have to screw on they dont clip on!  Well I am fitting an howdens kitchen this weekend I started it sunday got most of it done well I hung a few of the doors! Well this kitchen has come with decent blum draw runners but I have to fit them my self! ALso the hinges are the blum clip on! Well they dont fit the door holes!  So it must be budget doors and the guy must of upgraded the hinges and drawer runners.  I say they dont fit they do fit in the 32/35 mm hole but the two little holes either side where you screw the hinges they are 4 mm out so I have to square the hinges up my self on EVERY door no big deal but im just saying they are not that up to date with the Blum stuff!  And Ikea is alot cheaper but you are gettin the higher end stuff from blum the ikea kitchens  I fitted they came with these fully clip on blum hinges so they clipped on the doors and the Units I have never seen howdens sell them high end blum stuff (not the blue motion stuff that nice stuff thats what im thinking of gettin for my kitchen))!  Thats all I was trying to get at.

Dean,

That's true to a point. Ikea have what seems to be a policy to not use any hardware that can be bought of the shelf. Yes, there hinges are made by Blum, but they aren't standard hinges. They are made by Blum to Ikea's specifications & designs. The only differences are sometimes very minor (slight change of fixing holes, different opening angle, etc) but they are there.

Add to that the fact that Blum have different products in each area of varying quality. Just 'cos two companines use Blum runners, doesn't mean they use the same runners. Even some products that look identical can have internal/hidden components.

I did a large Howdens the other week then only this week finished a Magnet one for someone. You get trouble who ever you use but Magnet are absolutely useless. They made a few mistakes on this tiny kitchen  ::) ::). Delivered a flat pack carcase and doors for 50/50 fridge freezer but the fridge freezer is 70/30 split  ::). All the other companies ive used for kitchens I ve never had to mess about so much fitting a fridge freezer. No one actually knew how I was supposed to construct this unit no instructions and as I didnt have the correct doors etc I couldnt even guess. When the right doors finally did arrive I found I had to put two more layers of 18mm chipboard and some 4mm packers under the fridge to get it to the correct height. You think they would supply a spacer the correct height. Usually the fridges just slide in job done. Wont be using Magnet kitchens again in a hurry it was the clients idea to use them I had no say in it. Also I thought the general quality of the kitchen was poor.

Is Magnet the ones that make their carcases about 450mm deep instead of 570mm ?  I fitted a couple of them & hated that idea.

Im assuming that's internal no?  If that's overall depth then built in appliances would be sticking out no?
Oh I thought it was 575  or have I got that wrong?

Jmb

No, external.  You have to hold them away from the wall.  maybee it is not Magnet, i cant remember.  The 450mm is just a guesstimate but it is around that size.  I think their theory is it is much easier to run pipes ect behind them.  I hate that system.

No not on this Magnet kitchen anyway but I do remmember doing some kitchens years ago that were like that. You had to put a batten around the wall then the units stood away from the wall and it was just the worktops that held it all together, [laughing] rubbish idea
