Anyone with Parallel guides ?

The part that interfaces with the Guide Rail is 145 mm.

4' is about 1220.
1400 - 290 = 1110

I have used them on both the 55" & 106" to cut down sheet goods with the TS55 without any problems. Had to make 45 3 1/2" strips 8' long for a project. They work sweet.

I'll bet that was a design constraint.  It can even be helpful.  If you have the arms on you know for sure you'll have enough guide overhanging both ends to start and complete a crosscut or a rip of a full sheet with the 55 and 106 inch guides.

I'm going to revise what I said...

It's a little over 90 mm from where the outboard set screw locks on to the rail to the edge of the work piece. That is with the set screw right on the edge of the rail.

4' is about 1220
1400 - 180 = 1220

I've been using them with a 1900 mm rail so I can't actually say I've tried this. It looks like it would fit perfectly snuggly if the set screw was right at the edge of the guide rail.

Don:

Do you engage the outboard set screw when you have them set up for 4' sheets?

Tom

If you are asking about a crosscut to take sheets off the 4' side: yes, but the guides will hang off the end of the rail by a combined 2-1/2".  When the green knob and toggle are tightened, it does  wiggle a tiny bit, but this should not affect your accuracy by a noticable amount.  A 1900 would be required to fully seat the guides on a 4' workpiece.

I've only had mine for a few days and used them on a 3000 rail to zip cabinet sides off a 4x8 melamine sheet.  Fastest, easiest, most accurate job I have done like that yet!

cheers guys,

Looks ok, I have a2 1400's and a 2700 looks like the homemade guides seen on here sit on the sheet you are cutting so the rail length isnt an issue where as the Festool one drops down either end of the sheet, but the Festool one looks stiffer as you have the added support going under the rail.
