APS 900 worktop jig

I just got the festool aps 900 worktop jig. As with all festool stuff, I hesitated the spending the money but as soon as I used it the cost didn't worry me.
I am impressed how solid it is and I like how you can adjust the connector templates. Its is very easy to clamp especially with the rapid clamps( picked up a couple of them as well, very impressed with them)
Anyway just thought I would share my first thoughts, I feel it will last a long time.

The cutter with replaceable blades is not festool it is from Wheadons, as recommended by other members on fog.

Yes, technically it is, but you can cut the first 600mm then just slide the main section along the MFS extrusion and then cut through the last bit.

Howdens are one of the better standard kitchens, try fitting symphony crap!

I never slide mine along u just get away with it!  Plus it does it on both pieces so they match and like I said before it gets Covered by tiles or up stands.  

Unless I know it won't get covered ill slide the jig along the rail no big deal cus u leave the jig clamped just undo two screws and it slides and tighten again. The jig is still in same place just further along.

It's brilliant Worktop jig dude!  Best one I have used.  Just shame about the 600 be so easy for festool to make it work for 620 with out sliding it along the rail but I can live with it.

I hate worktops which come 600 should always be minimum 616+

More profit for you if you just find a decent cab supplier an buy from them for less than howden crap but higher quality board and fittings.

Or benchmarx what pile of rubbish they are. Fitted 3 for a builder and the doors warped and fell apart and the solid wood tops split and completely fell apart, and NO before you say it it wasn't the fitting . They thought it was but luckily the builder knows I'm good at my job and he gave benchmarx what for as far as I know they sorted it but I wouldn't touch their kitchens with a barge pole.

Yeh, a company i sometimes fit for does pronorm although the cabinets have been 16mm im sure?... Nice components the fillers came allready cut and all blum hardware etc...the symphony stuff i have done was for affordable housing, absolute crap and killed my blades and cutters in no time!

Yeah Dan they are 15 or 16mm but very good and as you say the infills and corners all come made up I was very impressed with those. One I did the infills were made up of 2 or 3 layers the top layer was the exact same size and material as the door so it looks perfect if that makes sense, I'm sure you know what I mean

Have you tried trend kitchens? Compete on price with howdens much better quality, 19mm carcass, blum hardware soft close etc. I fit these with duropal worktops. Picture attached is of nearly completed kitchen on which I used the aps900 jig.

Not heard of trend apart from the trend that make rubbish routers lol.

Hopefully I won't have to deal with Howdens again might even close my account. I rang for a quote for 6 pine doors locks , hinges etc the other week. Put the price into an estimate for the customer , got the job then when I ordered the doors they were way more. With a bit of haggling I got it down to about £50 more than what they quoted but no apology from them for costing me money morons.

Kitchen companies that use 616 tops have deeper units than those with 600 tops so the overhang is the same. The place i use make 560 deep units with 20-22 mm door so have 18-20mm overhang. And if your walls out that far i would be cutting units to suit unless you cant because a stupid dishwasher.

It is good quality (for a British kitchen!) and relatively good prices when you log-in with your trade details.

I used to buy from Mereway before I started doing German kitchens, and they are the closest to the Germans for quality that I have come across for a British kitchen.

Its a great Jig, I used to have the trend/wobble board!!! JMB is spot on....I think I've only fitted 1 kitchen with no up stand or splash back....
Theres nothing wrong with Howdens.... carcases are far to generic + the edgebanding is cheap..... Go direct to a carcase manufacture & get PWS, Burbidge or uform doors! That way you'll get colour matched rigid carcase's, 2mm abs edge banding & no unsightly drill holes in side!!!www.xymade.co.uk are good...
