Thanks,

Daniel

Best thing you can do is google:

Festool 574339 OF 1010 EQ Plunge Router

Just be careful though, as many dealers are listing the router under the old metric part number, but shipping it's replacement, the Imperial model.  Call and verify with the dealer they have the metric version, and even then, it will be difficult to guarantee you will get the model you want.

I just went through this locating a 1400.  , the company was smaller and the sales guy could actually check his inventory, verifying both the part number on the box and the metric scale on the router.

Good luck!

I'd suggest contacting your local Woodcraft dealer as they don't seem to have a high level of inventory turn.

Along those same lines is how I found my Metric 1400.  I contacted an obscure Festool dealer in Seattle Washington and sure enough, the one 1400 they had in stock was Metric.

The larger dealers move inventory at a much faster pace and have by now blown out their metric versions.

I left a VM for festool service this afternoon asking what was involved to switch it to metric.  I know Tyler said the saws have to go back because there is a fair but of disassembly involved.  I can't remember with the 1010, anyone know?

Here is the post Tyler C made when he came back from Germany, with answers to everyones questions regarding the conversion to metric:

I’m back from Festool HQ in Germany, and I have some updates and answers. We had several conversations about the imperial change and much of your feedback was part of those discussions.

While we’re still committed to moving to imperial – it’s the US standard used by the overwhelming majority of craftsmen here – we appreciate that we’ve spent years asking you to invest in Festool, which required an investment in metric. Therefore, we’re going to make a few adjustments.

Last week we made two adjustments to our imperial change:

1. In addition to offering to convert existing metric tools to imperial, we will also provide options to convert new imperial tools back to metric. No, we won’t be selling tools in both metric and imperial, but you’ll be able to retrofit them in either direction.
2. The Parallel Side Fence and Parallel Guide Extension will be available for purchase in your choice of imperial or metric. Essentially, this means that the imperial accessories will be offered as new products, and we won’t be discontinuing the old ones.

Here are some tool-by-tool details:

ROUTERS
OF 1010 EQ, OF 1400 EQ, OF 2200

Changes
The depth scale is a metal strip. This will now be in imperial.

But the micro-adjustment is still calibrated for metric. Doesn’t this kind of suck?
Once you’re at the point of making micro-adjustments, very few people are actually measuring out – for example – 3/10 of a mm. Philosophically, is it inconsistent for it to be in metric? Sure. Practically, does it affect how most people use the tool? No.

Converting existing metric tools to imperial
If you already have one of the affected routers and would prefer it in imperial, we’ll send you a new depth scale free of charge. (We’ll have an online form shortly.)

Converting new imperial tools to metric
The same as the above answer … but in reverse. We’ll send you the scale, and you can apply it yourself.

Thanks [member=60452]McNally Family[/member]

I got the imperial version from hartville, but when I looked at the router I felt like an idiot.  The depth gauge and plastic foot are the only two parts that need to be swapped and it's one screw each.  Heck I could switch back and forth if I wanted to.  No big deal.  Now I just have to reach service to find out if the plastic foot is included too or whether I have to buy that.

[member=21249]RKA[/member], So assuming the salesman who told me the one he was sending me was in Metric (will know Wed), I could request the Imperial scale sticker from Festool (based on Tyler C post), keep it with the Router and then someday should I decide to sell the router, I could sell it as either the Metric or Imperial version (it will be interesting to see which one is more in demand years from now).

When I looked at the Imperial version at my local Woodcraft, the metal scale seemed glued on, but I guess their might have been a screw holding it as well.

It's not a sticker, it's a metal L bracket with the scale printed on the long leg and a torx screw affixing it to the tool on the short leg.  I'm guessing they just give you a metal replacement with the metric graduations.  Affixing a sticker over this little part would be silly.  I'll let you know when I get the part.

As for your get rich quick scheme with the metric router...I would continue with plan A for now.  :)

I doubt I could ever get rich on a tool I never plan on selling.....I am constantly reminding my Son that if something should happen to me, for him to find the secret folder I maintain with all the invoices from these tool purchases.  Otherwise he might try and sell them for what I told his Mother I paid for them.

When are the conversion kits to go from metric to imperial supposed to be available. I didn't even know this was an option.

I'm guessing that is something you can do now, at least based on my understanding.  One call to Festool customer service should answer the question.

What I find interesting in all this is: only the scale has changed; according to , I believe it was [member=6555]Shane[/member], the actual screws in the router depth adjustment mechanism are still metric.  Admittedly when using the fine adjustment the actual scale number is rarely "used", but the fact remains that 1 full turn still represents some metric displacement measurement.

Not sure this is a true benefit, or any benefit at all.  I'm with [member=60452]McNally Family[/member], just keep the scale metric - same with the track saws, joiners, etc.  Even the distance from the cutter center-line to the base of the DF500 remains 10mm, so if you are referencing off the bottom, not sure how Imperial scales help.

Just my 2 cents on a slow news day.

Well I just ended up buying the imperial OF1010, accessories, another CT48 with work center and accessories right before the increase.

Could someone please verify what comes with the OF1010? The router is on backorder and I'm now thinking that I may have purchased something that would be included. If I recall this correctly, the information on Bob's site was slightly different than the Festool USA site. I purchased the edge guide thinking that the guide stop is included.  [scratch chin]

Since this item is backordered I wonder if I can get the metric conversion done before it ships from Festool or just have the part(s) added inside the systainer. [member=57769]TylerC[/member]  [member=5]Bob Marino[/member]

OF1010 was my 1st Festool; bought it at Rockler in Cincinnati, over 6 years ago.  It came with the Guide Stop, 2 Guide Rails, 1/4" and 8mm collets, 2 plastic ring inserts (for small dia & lg diameter bits), the attachable bottom chip deflector, and the wrench.  The Edge Guide was not included, and remains the only accessory I don't have for it.

It's a great router, and I use it for most of my router work.  Hope you enjoy yours!

I called the service department yesterday and he wasn't aware of any kits offered to covert imperial 1010's to metric.  He did look up the part numbers for the depth scale and plastic foot and gave me the number for the sales department so I could call Monday morning.  Your posts last year indicated a webpage would be set up to make the request for parts at no charge.  Can you clarify what we need to do to get the parts?
