Just purchased on ebay the C15 Li 2.6 (ex demo) complete set, three chucks etc. for £275!!! From a Tool dealer.

Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me! Congrats.  [smile]  How do you like the drill?

Oh, welcome to the FOG, by the way!  [welcome]

Cheers,
Rick

This is listed on the festool UK website at £513.60...about $820.  Seems pretty good to me!

Welcome Kevin.  Cracking deal.  I have the C15 along with 2 x C12 & a CXS.  I use the 15 the most.

Rick, i just noticed your signature strip, LOL  ;D  Is it because i seduced you onto Lie Nielson  [big grin]

Hi Kevin.  Really good buy I think; but did you get the full 3 year guarantee?

The reason I wonder is, because I fancy I also was bidding on the same item, but stopped when realised the seller (Festool UK - ok, TTS Tooltechnic Systems GB Ltd) were only offering 6 months guarantee.
TTS have auctioned a number of tools recently, all with 6 months guarantees - why? They're good tools, known for their durability etc. - so why not offer the full 3 years?  Seems a bit petty to me - you're getting them cheaper, so we we're only going to give a piffling guarantee!  That's my take on it anyway.
Have deleted them them from my eBay watch list, so can't double check; but what you paid is what I remember it going for.
I did phone TTS to ask about this (x3) but never got to speak to a person - and, despite leaving my contact details, each time, with their automated system, never had a call back.
Bye the bye, whenever I have seen ex-demo tools on sale from (independent) dealers, the 3 years guarantee has always been offered - they've even offered to register it for you.
Ended up getting the older NiMH version for nearly £15 less, with full 3 year guarantee, from Rex Crystal.  They answered the phone promptly, dealt with my queries in calm, helpful, professional manner - very impressed.
I do apologise if considered inappropriate posting, but, maybe slightly relevant if my thoughts re. guarantee correct.

That said, obviously still a good buy of course.
Richard.

Whoops.  [embarassed]

I didn't make it clear it was the C12 set I bought.  Sorry. sorry, sorry !!!

My gripe, if it wasn't clear, was about TTS only offering 6 months guarantee.
Maybe they would have had higher bids if 3 years offered??

Richard.

thanks for your post.  Your 100% right...does seem a bit petty...and poor customer service!!!  Which is strange because I called them a few times to ask a few general questions before buying and they were pretty helpful!... I watched a video on here recently with some guy putting the C15 through its paces... dipping it in water, plaster dust etc etc... I use my Panasonic Impact quite a lot so I'll use my C15 for some nicer tasks!

Your considerate reply appreciated Kevin.  I probably should have put my comments elsewhere; I do feel a little apologetic.

I must admit when I saw what it went for, I stumbled blindly out of my chair in shock; fortunately someone saw what was happening and gave me a large mug of strong sweet  tea, and a biscuit, to aid my recovery; and kept an eye on me for a couple of hours.  I'm just glad I wasn't alone.
Indeed a bargain.

My limited dealings with TTS have, unfortunately, been disappointing with regard to call-backs.  For e.g. whilst sanding a few months ago, early after-noon on a Friday, the hose came adrift from the connector - the pressure was on (because we needed to get primer and undercoat on before week-end.)  I couldn't work out how to get it back together securely.  (Isn't the dust extraction good - a few seconds and a cloud of dust reminded me.)
It took far too many attempts before I got to speak to a person - again no call back.  When I did (speak to a person) they were very, very helpful - they went and got a hose and patiently  talked me through what to do - excellent.  But I still lost nearly three hours.  Perhaps my expectations are too high.

I always used DeWalt gear till I became aware of Festool.  Like you, will probably cosset the C12 for a while - everyone's impressed with it; the ease with which you can change chucks, the ease with which it will allow you screw slowly, and so on.  I'm going to keep an eye on it I tell you.  I'm really looking forward to getting the depth-stop chuck for dry-lining.  I am so impressed with it - it's a downright pleasure to use.

Hope you enjoy yours as well, all the best.
Richard.
