Battery 15v use in an 18v bare tool

Can I use my c15 batteries in  cordless 18v bare tools like  carvex or drill?

Hi
The only change will be a reduced rpm, not by much though.

Does that go for the T15 as well? I've been looking for a good compatibility chart like the one referenced above but for 2016+.
For a newcomer the battery/tool crossover is a bit bewildering.

Yes. It doesn't matter whether T or C shape, the batteries are the same.

Simplistically, most Festool batteries can be used in a tool of the same or greater voltage except for the CXS which is its own platform design. Even more importantly, they won't fit if they won't work. So a 15 battery will physically fit and work on an 18 tool, but an 18 battery won't even slide on to a 15 tool.

As an aside, and as a follow-up to Phil's comments, using a lower voltage battery than the tool is designed for will work but may alter the characteristics of the tool slightly - the RPM or similar will be lower on things like drills and saws for example.

But the Ah (Amp hour) rating doesn't change the characteristics of the tool, it only affects the run time between recharges. But a higher Ah battery is heavier. This is why you'll see people using some of the drills with 2.6Ah batteries in certain scenarios rather than the 5.2Ah batteries they might ship with - especially when you might be working with the tool over your head for example.

Hope this helps.

Below are pictures of the drills I have.

The TDK 12 will use the BPS 12 NiCd battery

The TDK 15.6 will use BPS 15.6 & 12 NiCd batteries.

The 15+3 will use the BPC 15 Li-ion battery & the BPS 15.6 & 12 NiCd batteries.

The 18+3 will use the BPC 18 & 15 Li-ion batteries & the BPS 15.6 & 12 NiCd batteries.

Ha! I've always wondered if we can charge Euro batteries in our chargers!
