Battery is always better choice than cord.
But when battery is gone tool is useless, unless...
Make a cord like a plug-it and at the end put a transformer 18 V DC that will slide into the battery port on the tool. Now it is corded tool, but if a battery is a must, slide in a battery. If one wish to make it himself, check Ams drawn by the tool.
This cord probably can be money maker patent, so Festool get fast before someone else will.
It is easy with a lot of money in pocket and ability to order the battery. But if one is in remote place and cannot get along with the price, the cord is battery and life saver.

Skil had something like that.  I guess it didn't catch on.  There have certainly been times when I wished I could plug in a cordless tool because that's all I had on hand at the time, especially something that runs a battery down fast like a circular saw, and get some work done.

I have had battery operated tools off and on for nearly 3 decades, the batteries for the oldest tools are not possible to get now of course, corded drills and other tools from the same periods still work.

I think you have to see battery driven tools as consumables that have a 10 year lifespan.

Personally I'm going mostly corded and getting the smaller corded tools based on this logic.

I'm recently getting interested in using air driven tools, especielly sanders, nailers.. impact wrenches/screwdrivers. Low vibration Low noise, Long service life..

I don't agree especially if you're using dust extraction and the plug-it system.
