Because of the commotion about the Barbie movie, they are out of pink paint.

Rosco Paint has been in the news lately. Apparently, they were the supplier of the fluorescent pink paint that was used for the Barbie sets. It seems that the paint will glow when hit with UV lights, that, along with the ultra-saturated colors and matte finish were what made the images so vibrant.

NPR reported on this:

And this is the pink paint:https://us.rosco.com/en/product/fluorescent-paint

My question is this:  Rosco is famous for producing paints for theatrical productions. It seems that the paints are just acrylic paints.  What is special about paint for the theatre?  It does not have to be particularly durable, the sets are generally destroyed after a few months.

They only offer 32 colors—which is no where near as many as most paint companies offer.

It appears that they are all interior finishes.

They do use these paints to paint scenic backgrounds on canvas which gets rolled up.  So flexibility is required.  But is that all?
