This cabinet is made to fit the exact space at the side of my bed & i have also made it lower than normal, i find shop bought ones to tall.  Mine is .660mm (26") wide x .540mm (21 1/2") high x .415mm (16 3/8") deep.
The carcase is made up of 18mm plain mdf glued to 16mm black walnut mdf to give a thickness of 34mm for a beefy look & solid feel.  The bottom shelf is 18mm plain mdf with solid walnut edging to give the illusion of 34mm thick.  It is fixed to the solid sides with 4 no 10 x 50 dominoes each side.  There is no need for housing it in as there is no weight on the bottom shelf.
All the mdf was cut up with the ts55 on the 1.4m & .800 rails & every thing sanded with the rotex with 120 grit through to 320grit hand sanded with the grain.
The top is also double thickness with solid walnut edging all around.  It is attached to the sides with the same amount of dominoes but it has also  been housed in to a rebate.  the top edging has been profiled to a slight curve on the spindle moulder & hand sanded with the same paper as the mdf.
The edging on the front of the sides is flat & 10mm thick.

Once clamped square & left overnight to cure it is ready for finishing.  I have brushed on 2 coats of lacquer, cutting back between coats with 320g by hand.  I then apply 2 coats of wax buffing off with a lambswool bonnet on the rotex, takes a lot of the hard work out & gives a lovely Finnish.
I then give the inside a coat of grey primer & 2 coats of black gloss paint applied with 4" roller.
The next stage is to make the drawers.  They are western red cedar which was dovetailed on the Leigh jig with the of1400 & of1010.  The were attached on full extension runners.
The fronts are white ash which was hand fitted to give a clearance of 1mm.  I used a trick i read in Robert Ingham's book.  He puts 2 layers of maskink tape on the edges of the carcase & fits the front snug to the tape & then attach it to the drawer box.  Once the drawer is open, you just remove the tape & your clearance is perfect.

Just stick the completed cabinet in place & fill with whatever  [smile]

Then its time to start on the 2nd one  [sad]

It looks like your table saw is about to fall through the floor.

I like the contrast.  I am a sucker for ash though.

Na, the saw is fine.  The electrics were run under the concrete with a hole left with a 16amp socket for the saw & a 240volt socket for whatever.  There is supposed to be a metal plate over the hole but i never got round to that yet  [unsure]

Anyway, you are not supposed to be snooping around my shop  [eek] , but hey, its what i do in every pic.  Well spotted.

Cheers, woodguy.
