bench and mantle

I had a job doing a bench and mantle figured i would share with you guys.

Nice...seems like 2 dominos isn't enough though. Does the bench rock at all?

I did wonder about that when doing it as it was my first time using the domino. I flattened the slabs bottom so it sat flat and glued everything. When I dry fitted the whole thing I didn't have any movement either in any direction. It's solid.

I pulled a 2" strip of drywall off to check how the framing was done. it was framed with 3 studs on either side of the fireplace so I used a 1" dowel and a spade bit to drill a hole into the studs and mantle piece. Using  PL premium to glue the dowel into the studs and mantle. It's a small basement wall with no weight bearing concerns.
