Hi

I was in my local axminster shop in warrington and the manager there told me that later on in the year that they are releasing their own version of the bessey k revo clamps and that they are made in the same factory but will be cheaper

Only of use if your in the UK

First I've heard thought Id pass on the info

regards

Adrian

Bessey got pulled from the second largest home improvement store here in the US, I bet they're hurting pretty bad. It wouldn't surprise me if all their manufacturing went to east Asia soon.

They got pulled from the 2nd largest to go to the largest home improvement store :)

I have read that the clamps that Rutlands sell under their Dakota brand (which are very similar to the old style Bessey K body clamps) are made in the same factory as the Bessey clamps, they are not quite as good quality but for the money are fantastic value.

some researching and it appears the HD seems to have the best deal on 31" revo K body.  couldn't find one lower.

Why the Bessey clamps no longer are sold at Lowes is speculated to be because a better deal was reached with Home Depot.  Now the Lowes are selling Irwin.  Many of the clamps that were German-made Besseys at Lowes are now China made at Home Depot.

I am going to assume that Lowe's is #2 in Canada as well as in the US.

I have bought axministers branded quick clamps they felt really well made but they are crap!!  Both lasted about one year and the gears/ratchet  wore out and the clamps would just spring loose.

I have had the festool quick clamps for years way before the Axminster ones and still have them and they are still going strong.

Yes they are cheaper but they are not worth it cost more in the long run.

Peter- Yes, Lowe's is the one I meant. They still have Besseys on the shelves. I'll have to check where they were made.

In Europe, Bessey is only sold in specialized shops destined for mostly professionals. Just like festool it's something you won't see in a big box store along black&decker.

That being said Bessey already produces in China, much of their newer stuff is. if axminster can get the same ones made in the same factory that means the Bessey ones are made by thirds which is bad news for quality. But that doesn't mean the axminster ones will be as good, the same machines can be fed with cheaper alloys and plastics to produce something that looks the same but will not hold up. I have bought a few axminster branded stuff before and it was always typical chinese throw away garbage. i would stay away from it.
