Anybody checked out the bessy clamps in a systainer?

As in the Systainer that holds the Bessey KwiKlamps...?

I've never seen these clamps in a Systainer in person, but I like the clamps themselves.

To find details of the Systainerised set on the Bessey website, check out my post in the "Systainer Variations" thread from a couple of years ago. The set contains various sizes of the magnesium alloy clamps.

A friend of mine has this set and I have borrowed it from him on a couple of occasions when I had to do a lot of clamping. It is a nice set because you get so many of them and they are comfortably arranged in the systainer. The action to clamp and release them works pretty smooth. You do have to keep in mind though that they are very light and therefor not very strong. Don't make the workpiece to heavy or the clamp won't hold it. I also find the plastic handle a bit flimsy. I never dare to tighten it too much because I am afraid I will break it. My friend has broken one.

Lordinteriors,

The ones that I found are in Italy, they could probably ship them over to England.

The web site is all in Italian or German though, if your interested though let me know.

Thanks -Dan.

Anybody know what the clamping capacity of those clamps are ?  Also, what does that price work out to in GBP ?

Really nice set & if the clamps are big enough i might go for them.  Have a job to clad some beams in oak & gona need some more clamps.

Cheers, Woodguy.

P.S - Anyone in the UK selling these ?

According to Dan James' link, there are 4 each of 120mm, 160mm, 200mm, and 250mm capacity.

At the current rate of 1.00 Euro = 0.8937 British Pound, it works out at 261.81GBP

I've looked around, but none of the UK Bessey dealers/distributors have it listed. Sorry.

On a related note, by buying this set instead of buying the clamps individually & buying a systainer, you'd save the grand total of bugger all....

So I'd say if you want this, buy the clamps in the UK, and make a plywood insert to hold them! [big grin]

woodguy if you click on dans link it has clamp capacities and a list of which sizes you get
the price should work out about 260 gbp

Cheers Jonny & Lee

Those sizes would work for me.  I kinda like the Bessy Systainer just for a change.  My workshop looks like a big white Lego kit  [eek]

My only concern now is if they will be strong enough  [unsure]

even though i woulodnt be saving money it would still be nice to order it and get it here without the hassle of ordering seperate parts and then having to make an insert

I also noticed that there is no saving by buying the set, which is not very good, but they do look real nice, very tempting  [tongue].

I'll keep a look out and see if they do any offers on them, they sometimes have clearances, and if so I'll drop a post about it.

Thanks -  Dan James.
