Hi Guys,
Anybody using the Fastcap Best Fence PRO System V2 for the Kapex?

What are your thoughts? Any pictures with the Kapex set-up?
Any other quality alternatives?

Thanks,
Frank

Here's some pics. I love the bestfence for doing decks and tasks where the kapex is going to be set up for a while. The best fence is super heavy and takes a few minutes to setup.   The Festool ug extensions are much lighter and quicker to set up, so I use them on quick jobs.

This stand was given to me by fastcap and is the earlier model. I've been told a lot has been improved from the one I have.

I've never tried the new system but did in fact purchase the old system for the Kapex.  It was a joke.  By far the heaviest piece of equipment in my truck.  I spent about 20 minutes setting it up only to be horribly disappointed in every way.  I wouldn't have used this set up if it were given to me.  The provided Kapex connectors were cheap and had to be shimmed to get to the correct height of the saw table.  The tripods are a royal pain to set up and very heavy.  The tripod/fence connection is pitiful and provides little stability for working off the wings (coping).  The extrusions are well made but provide no means to bolt or attach anything to them.  It's really just a sad attempt to copy the Sawhelper, which I have recently purchased.  This stand is everything a carpenter could ask for.  I also purchasd Multiblades Kapex connectors.  I can't say enough good things about this set up.  I can clamp to the connectors for cutting crown or to make a small molding fence.  The Flipstop is dead on accurate every time and the extension is supported by a folding leg.  I can stand on the end of this thing and it doesn't move.

With all of this being said I would highly recommend searching www.allofcraigs.com for a Sawhelper (I have 2) and be patient.  I found a couple quickly with the owners wanting $800 for one and $1000 for another.  I purchased one for $275 which was the U55 and the other for $350 which is the U88.  I couldn't be happier with my purchases.

I would agree with comments about the weight.  Personally I see the best fence as a workshop fixture, but FastCap have put a lot of work into the design and the full system with the wheels is a very good product.

It just, to me, looks like a $99 Ryobi stand with a lot of crap added onto it.  A bunch of afterthoughts.  But that's just my opinion and not worth much.  Ithat would take up 1/2 my truck bed.  I prefer small, simple and sturdy.  I spoke to Paul Akers about this set up and he says everyone loves it so I hope they do well with the new product.
