Hi,
I'll be coming to New York City for 2 weeks holiday in April  ;D  Due to big price difference between USA and Aussie Festool stuff, I surely plan to fill my luggage with festool stuff, mainly accessory though.  Can anyone suggest good tool shop in New York City who stock Festool stuff ???
Cheers

Have fun in New York!  Make sure the electrical cords will work back home, unless you want to purchase converts and such.  [smile]

Didn't occur to me that Bob actually has a store front. I'll be in NYC in a week or so myself, might be a fun...or extremely unfun ie expensive stop.

I was down under for a bit earlier this year, man tools are EXPENSIVE. I was thinking I should import some tools in my carry on bag!
It seemed most power tools were at least 2x as expensive

It's been awhile since I last checked but Bob didn't have a storefront when I did.  My go to guy isn't far outside NYC, has a storefront and has been extremely helpful over the last year I've been purchasing Festool products.  Check out the "Tool Nut" and Sean Ackerman.  I live 1200 miles away from their store and have always been satisfied with their advice and service.

Tools for working wood (linked earlier) is mainly a hand tool store and has a great selection.  Definitely worth a visit if you are into hand tools- they manufacture some themselves and also have some cool books and obscure bits and pieces.  I live a few blocks from them so I go there for sandpaper, lockwood dyes etc. but they don't necessarily have every festool in stock so it may be worth calling first if there is something in particular you need.

Thanks guys for the feedback.
I wouldn't buy tools because of the voltage difference, main aim at Festool accessories, sand papers or hand tools.
Definitely will try to visit them.

if you are staying in the same place for 2 weeks you can also use mail order and avoid sales tax if you order from vendors not based in NY.

GCK, I've heard awesome things about these guys and have wanted to check them out for a very long time.  They seem to be the real deal, "core", folks....in it for the heart 'n soul and love of machinery, tools, etc.  I've only heard wonderful and unique things about their shop, what they have to offer and their advice.  I just wish they weren't so darn close to us ;)

I've been to the Tool Nut and they have a great selection of any kind of power tool and accessory you could want.  They also have a great display of Festool!  If you can get a ride out to the "country," you will find it worthwhile!  [big grin]

Compared to the manhattan yeah it's very country up by the toolnut.

If you can make it up to the toolnut you won't be disappointed. They have a great store with plenty of Festools to try out  [big grin].

Eh, it's all relative.  Country for me is COUNTRY.  Amish-esque.

Didn't really want to post this yet, but I figure why not.  Last week we spent some serious time with Toby and Saulius of Festool remodeling the Festool demo and display area for probably the 4th time in the last 16 months or so.  I'd say we're about 60-75% complete.  Much more to go.  Missing headers, more display racks and a few more MFT's.

As of right now there are 4 MFT's and an MFT Kapex Table.  Probably going to convert the Kapex table to a drill demo area and put the Kapex on an UG and add maybe 2 more MFT's.  We're psyched!

Kev, I can't STAND that picture.  It kills me.  What a gorgeous demo area.  So much space, beautiful floor, supreme organization.  The entire place is a work of art.

Thanks for bumming me out.  ;D

LOL, very true.  At least it's as far away as humanly possible.

Not to mention that there are a few tools missing from your display, Sean, that the Aussies seem to have.  [scared]  [big grin]
