So I have been using the LR32 system for the past couple weekends. Getting great results! I honestly believe it's a hidden Festool gem.
But, the only draw back from the set up is the lack of dust collection I could get when using the 35mm cup hinge bit.
After the first 3 or 4 doors I made, I was a little upset about the fact that I couldn't use the dust hood for the OF1400 router.
Then it hit me like a punch from Tyson.......why not take off the door of the dust hood? So, I did and it opened up the diameter of the dust hood
for the OF1400. Now I'm able to get at lease 80 % dust collection. I use a 27mm hose with the OF1400, so I switched to a 36mm hose too see if
that would change anything, and it did a little bit, but dust mainly come from the hole between the guide plate and the work piece.
Other then this little drawback, the LR32 is a fantastic accessory for the OF1400 router. I honest didn't think a systainer full of plastic and metal parts
could have such an impact on production.
I honestly searched the forum for a thread about the lack of dust collection with the LR32 system and found nothing.....so that's why I'm starting this thread.
So sorry if this is nothing new too a lot of you guys. Here are a couple pictures of what I did to improve the dust collection.
this pic shows that the 35mm bit does not fit with the door on the dust hood
[attachthumb=#]
simply remove the door to make the opening wide enough to allow the 35mm bit to pass thru.

now as you can see, the 35mm bit passed thru the dust hood on the OF1400.

So, if you are using the OF1400 with the LR32 and you didn't know this little trick, I hope this helps you out.
With the door removed the dust hood still stays in place. Because the tabs that hole the hood in place are on the hood itself.
So I don't think their is any safety issue with this little modification.
If this is a violation, the by all means, please let me know and delete this thread.
