I changed the depth of cut on my Porter Cable biscuit joiner for a special purpose and now I need to change it back to the pre-set depths for #10 and #20 biscuits.

Anyone know the recommended depths for these sizes?

How much deeper than the half the width of the biscuit should the cut be?

Hi Michael!  I'm guessing the depth-adjustment mechanism for your PC works like the one on my Lamello, in that if you've set the depth correctly for one biscuit size, it'll be set correctly for all.  Lamello's instruction book gives the following table of depths for the various biscuits:
0=8.0mm, 5/16"
10=10mm, 0.4"
20=12.3mm, 0.48"
Simplex=13.0mm, 0.51"
Duplex=14.7mm, 0.58"
max=20mm, 0.8"

Good luck.

Regards,

John

You should put all of your owner's manuals in a file drawer so you know where to look.  Of course in my case, I can't remember where that drawer is located...  [scared]  [big grin]  [big grin]  [big grin]

To add a little more info in case someone else has this question...

from Lamello...

"Below find the different sizes of our wooden Lamello plates:

For cutter 100 x 4 mm:

Size    20    56 x 23 x 4 mm

Size    10    53 x 19 x 4 mm

Size      0    47 x 15 x 4 mm

Size    S6    85 x 30 x 4 mm "

Since John's Lamello manual says the depth of cut for the #10 biscuit should be 10mm
and the Lamello #10 biscuit is 19mm wide, Lamello is recommending a cut 0.5mm deeper
than a perfectly formed biscuit strictly requires.

Note that Lamello suggests a little extra room for the #20 biscuit 0.8mm deeper than half the 23mm biscuit width.

My Porter Cable biscuits are 1mm wider than the equivalent Lamello biscuits so I need to set my depth a little deeper to accommodate them.

PS Ron, my manual is there in the tool kit but Porter Cable doesn't include detailed info for resetting the depth adjustment.
