My wife and I took a road trip up North to Chico, Ca to a place that cut it's own Claro Walnut.  We spent a few hours going through his many cargo containers of claro walnut and filled up the bed of our pickup.  This coffee table is from some of the last pieces and it's actually the first piece I built with my Festool Domino Joiner and Jig saw.

Nice work Jack. That is some pretty wood.
Thanks Chris, I should take some pictures of the tables I made with that wood it has a lot of tiger striping in it, I just wish I bought more of that wood when I had the chance!

Another great piece!  Thanks for sharing.  If you do not mind me asking, where in Chico did you buy this?  I am in So Cal and could make a drive or hit it up on a trip up north sometime...

Scot, it took a while but I finally found where i purchased the wood back in 1999.  It was from Scot Wineland in CHico and here's his web address;  http://www.woodfinder.com/listings/redirect.php?id=4741  While I was searching for his name, I found several locations in Chico selling Claro Walnut, good luck.

Nick,  I finished this table with several coats of Minwax Satin Wipe On Poly using white scotch brite between coats (4/0 steel wool equivalent) and finished with a paste wax.
