Blum Cabinet Configurator

I registered but apparently there's a hiccup or a catch because when I try to run it I get this...

You are not authorized for the desired application 'PAI010' (2021-01-17 00:49:24 / SUS_1119)

It looks very interesting and I'm sure I'll figure it out.  Assuming free really does means free.

If you're looking for free cabinet design software you might want to check out the Thermwood product eCabinet Systems.  It's free 3D design software.  You don't really need drawings per se. It creates BOM's and nesting diagrams for sheet goods and cut lists for cases and doors and face frames and so on.  It has a drafting tool that you can take a cabinet to.  But I've never needed to do that.  After you design the cases you can place them in a room and get a pretty good rendering, almost photo quality.

There is a learning curve but it's fun product to use.  I've used it for kitchens, bathrooms, libraries and miscellaneous stuff.

I tried to and didnt get it to work. I dont remember what message I got, just that it didnt work.

I got that at first.

There is a message box with a list, if  you scroll down to the bottom you will see there is a box that says "I agree".  Once you agree to their policy, they send you a second message box to agree to.

At that time you can open the program.

The site was poorly laid out and formatted.  And I found it required more concentration than I was ready for to use.  I will give it another look when I have more time.

I got in. I had made two accounts a year+ ago trying to access this tool which has been available in other countries but not the US. One of my accounts worked, the other didn't. I don't know what the difference is. I'm glad this tool is finally available. I use Dynaplan in the past to design my carcass, then export it to SketchUp. It's a lot faster than trying to draw my boxes once you get accustomed to the software.

Thanks for the heads up!

Before I spend a lot of time on this site, what does it actually do?  Does it allow me to make drawings?  Specify hinges and drawer slides?

works pretty well here. i might try and use it for the next kitchen build

there's a cabinet configurator and a separate single item config. you don't draw but specify dimensions, and it spits out the cutting list and the blum parts needed.
you add blum products to your cabinet and it will make you specify drawer front dimension for example or whatever this product requires.

I just set it up using disposable name/email/address etc. and got in fine.  Only catch was that after you get the (first) confirmation email and are directed back to Blum to sign in for first time it will reject your previously created user/password.
Out of curiosity I logged back into the disposable email account and saw a new second message that generated a new user & pass for you to copy / paste.  After successfully logging in with new creds it will ask you to re-create a new pass.  Then it's all good.
