I just learned the sad news that  Bob Swenson passed away on New Years Eve. Not so much in recent years, but Bob and his son Per had been valued contributing members on FOG for many years. Below was posted on Facebook by his granddaughter.

I would like to make a formal announcement, as many already know, however some have not heard. Hunter Swenson, Heather Swenson, and I lost our grandfather, Robert Swenson on New Year's Eve. He is the father of Per Swenson, Chris and Eric. More importantly the perfect, balanced husband for the last 69 years to His wife Gilda. He was my father's, his wife's and grandchildren's rock, love, support, shelter and source of faith and hope. His life was profound. A renown print photographer, learned masonry at 70. Could still kick my butt on skis into his 80's. Enrolled at CCM to study all Arts throughout the last decade every semester. He was a Sgt. Of Arms of the Army, 10th Mountian Division during WWII. As well as Past Commander of American Legion Post 390. He was our hero, your hero, my hero. And so much more.

May he protect us now from above.

I hope there is a special place in heaven for carpenters.

My thought and prayers are with his family.

I also offer my condolences to the Swenson family.  Sad news indeed.

I too offer my condolences to the family. Sounds like he had full and rewarding life, and I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

This is truly sad news and you have my deepest condolences.

Just over a year ago when I was first learning about Festool sanders I came across this Web Page that featured Per and his father Robert finishing a monumental bar they built.  I studied that page over and over again to learn more about their finishing techniques and the Festool sanders they used.  Most of all, I marveled at the scale of the build and the fact that at 80 years old, Mr. Swenson was still happily working away with his son.

I am grateful for the way my life was touched by Bob and his son Per.

My condolences. That is sad news indeed. I always enjoyed reading his posts from the earlier days.

My condolences to the Swenson family. I loved that Per had the opportunity to work with his dad...something I would love to be able to do with my boys one day!

The other day, Per called me regarding his dad's passing. Truly sad and a great loss. Bob was a gentleman, a real class act and will be be missed. My condolences to the Swenson family.

Bob
