Hello,

I just baught a boom arm.  I have it all hooked up but the trigger activaton of the vacuum does not work when the extra extension cord that connects the vac and the plug it is in place.  To clarify the plug it works when connected directly to the vacuum.  I tride pinching the the extension cord's plug together to see if it was just a lack of contact but that did not work either.

Anyone have any ideas?  Maybe the cord is faulty?

Thanks for the help

JJ

Hi,

I would say the first thing is to try a different extension cord just to check if the Festool cord is faulty.

JJ I know some of the outlets on the vacs were made by a different company and they were inferior, sporadically not working with the tool auto start. Call Festool I think they will send you a new one.

Thanks for the responses,

I checked the cord in an outlet and it works fine.  So, this time I really crimped the pluggs and it works now.

Nickao, I think that I will still call on monday about the recepticle because it does not work with any of my other tools that plug in to the vac (other than the festool plugit).  The recepticle on the vac is very loose is yours loose too?

thanks
JJ

Michael,

I have the 22.  I looked at it some more this morning and the recepticle is so loose that the plug has to have some weight  hanging down.  In other words when I had it attached to the boom arm just the fact that it was going up, as opposed to hanging to the floor and then up without the boom, was enough to have it not work.  It is also the case with the plugit cord.  There has to be a little slack in the cords so that the plug actually hangs a little out of the recepticle.

I will have to give festool a call tom. and see what they say.

Another question, in general, are you able to use other tools in the vac and have the auto start work.  I never really tried to get anything to work and nothing seems to.  I have tried a 2 miter saws and a drill and none of them work.

Hmmm....

JJ, any electrical tool, lamp or appliance should work in your CT vacs.

Right, anything ac should work.

Another thing, kind of interesting, is that my Rigid trim router has an LED that glows when it is plugged into a live outlet and it glows when plugged into a Festool vac even when the vac is in Auto mode.

My CT33 had a problem with the recepticale on the unit. I had to take it apart and bend the connections so it would make better contact. I don't know if you are having the same issue but I hope this helps.
