Until I read about the replacement part I had considered drilling two holes in the delrin part. From the top one in front of the through holes, another behind the through holes. I was then going to put metal rod in the holes. This would preserve the slickness of the delrin and cost less machining a piece of AL.

Thank you for your suggestion. Festool actually tried different ways of fixing the problem. Everything was a compromise. The solution with the aluminum replacement part
was the only solution that really worked. The aluminum part is polished and you won't notice a difference in slickness compared to the current part.
