I know this saw has been mentioned several times, and when I saw it at this price tonight I had to take a picture. Don't know if the price is store-by-store or regionally, or what, but if you want one it can't hurt to ask your store to match the price. Or, if Lowes also sells it they should match the HD price and give you an additional 10% off! Not a bad deal for $540!!!!

It's a company wide price. I'm in management at the store level. I've sold 2 of them myself and I've got the last one set up in front of my Tool Rental department door. Really is a heck of a deal.

Oww! [scared]
Management at Home Depot?  You must have to take anti-depressants pushing Ridgid products while secretly hoarding the green stuff at home! [big grin]
Gives new meaning to the old phrase "Do as I say, NOT as I do!". [wink]

Cheers,
Frank

Haha luckily my actual job isn't to sell the tools but there have been some instances when I got caught out on the floor answering questions about the difference between brushless and brushed motors in a drill/impact. I really wanted to say just buy a damn T18 and be done with it.

My job is to  run tool rental, repair tools, build stuff for the store and work on community build projects which allows me to take my green s in every once in a while and use them in my shop. Needless to say the guys at work and the contractors coming in are always curious.

it's a pretty good saw.  Just make sure you add this little piece of festool to make it a great saw

What did you add, the rubber dust catcher? If so where did you get the piece of rubber? I picked up a 10" Bosch glider for $538. It hasn't arrive yet but should have it late next week.

Thanks
Jack

I can see a tiny piece of green something up almost in the upper right corner.  [wink]

It's the festool Kapex apron (dust boot) Part #471316

Here's a picture of the Festool vs Bosch, it's surprising what that little dust boot does for dust collection.

Ahh, thanks, that is a great tip! The saw takes the Festool hose without modification as well, though the catcher has issues with collapsing under vacuum. This should fix the latter issue!

It's not a "perfect" fit but it's pretty darn close.  Made a considerable improvement.

Just a heads up, the saw is available from Lowes for $549. If you source a 10% movers coupon you can get it for under $500 + tax.  I am picking mine up tomorrow.

That's an INCREDIBLE deal!

They no longer hand out the HD mover's coupons at the Post Office - any idea where to get one?

My local Home Depot has the saw and I also noticed it on Lowes website to order. Is it worth the $150-200 over the $399 DeWalt?

I buy mine on eBay [emoji13]

Home Depot will always beat the competition. So don't be afraid to get an even better deal there :)

I think that depends.  If you want one of the smoothest saws I have ever operated, then yes.  Will it cut better then the Dewalt, I don't know as I have never used that saw.  I tried the Kapex.  I liked the axial glide better and I didn't see myself using the available accessories for the Kapex.  The DC with the above modification (thank you Kapex!) puts it in the better DC I have seen.  As good as the Kapex IMO.    The big difference is my axial glide isn't moved around on the jobsite.  It's a tank.  It's big, heavy and powerful.  It stays in my shop.  Even on the gravity rise stand it's a beast to move around, but it works for me.

I have 2 of the Dewalt saws & a Kapex. With equal blades, they all cut very well.

Is it top-heavy on the Gravity rise stand?  I have the non-glide Bosch 12", which I really like, and in general am skeptical of rail/glide saws because of the potential for blade deflection when extended to maximum range, but at $549 I might be tempted.

No, I don't find it top heavy on the GR stand.  But that stand is pretty big.  I just squeezes through most door openings and is about as big folded up as it is set up.  I work out of my 2 bay garage and have to put up against a wall to park.  It works great for that.  The nice thing is it sits flush against the wall on that stand because of the axial glide.  I typically leave it set up with the wings in against the wall.  (So I can cut short stock easily)

You can deflect this saw.  You can deflect any saw.  I find it WAY better then my Makita it replaced.  You just need to operate it properly (like any saw)

My daughter thinks it's a pretty great saw too!
