I'm looking to buy a pneumatic nailer and compressor in the next few weeks and was looking at the Bostitch BOSFN1664E FN1664-e Magnesium 16g Finish Nailer for starters but am unsure which compressor to go with as it will be used in clients homes as well as in the workshop I've been looking at the senco 1010 and the  Bostitch BOSPS20U110 PS20-U site compressor 20ltr or Bostitch BOSRC10U110 RC-10-U Roll Cage compressor 10ltr. Does anyone have experience with this nail/ compressors I'm new to pneumatic nails so any advice would be welcome.

Not 16g but I have the Clarke compressor and like it very much. Cheaper than the rest and working very well. Might be bigger or smaller than you wanted, but it's luggable - I use it in the workshop and the house.

I added to that a couple of Bostitch nailers (although you can get the Clarke with a brad nailer for next to nothing) a brad and my favourite which is a pin nailer. I love this nailer, don't know how I managed before.

I used these guys for the nailers and nails - can highly recommend them.

I've got the 16g Bostitch and use it with a senco that I've put in a SYS 5. It works well, refills about every 7 shots and never struggles. Warren at Toolfest a member here had them for £160 the other day. Get yourself a flexible Bostitch hose it makes life easier. Got mine of Amazon USA half the UK price.

EDIT just saw your post above I've also got the big Bostitch compressor 3rd one down. Use it for bigger guns. That's the hose I mentioned above

Cheers Wuffles how noisey is the compressor when it's running and how often does it recycle say when using a nail how many shots do you get before it starts up?

Cheers Joiner I was torn between compressors as I know the senco is nice and quiet which would be ideal for use in clients homes bu was unsure if it would have the capacity for other tasks like with use of a blow gun, I can pick the senco up for £152 which seems a good price, so was thinking of maybe starting with the senco then maybe picking up a lager compressor later on for the workshop and if I progress on to the bigger nailers from my paslode 1st fix nailer. Cheapest I've found the hose in the uk is £57 for the 15mx6mm was it much cheaper from the US? Did you go for the 15m or the 30m?

Think I've got 15m and its fine. Try Amazon.com the US one you can go through the checkout and it will tell you how much Inc import. Think they're $29 at mo. But you will have to change the fitting which I already had some quick release ends.

Says 94db which is about as loud as a Who concert probably, if you were in a caravan about 3 miles away, with your head under a pillow? Have no idea what loud is any more really, but...

...kind of loud if it catches you off guard, but I think they all are really. I can fire about 20 pin nails without it cycling easily (I will check this today and report back). In fact, I tend to leave it switched off when I only have a couple of things to do in the house, lug it about like an air tank.

I think it's bigger than the other ones you're looking at, so it'll hold more air and not cycle as much - could be wrong.

I will check this morning for you as I am pinning skirtings onto some panelling.

I only bought it because I was replacing a Bosch battery finish nailer I had cheap years ago and coincidentally a large compressor in the workshop that never got used as it was too heavy to move from its quiet spot in the corner - even though it was on wheels. Sold the pair of them and still had a decent meal out on the change after buying this lot.

Bostitch nailers come with the different hose fitting btw, different from everything else I have anyway.

Just seen this on the screw fix website on special deal for £99 it's a 24ltr could be ideal for the workshop use and I could pick this and the senco 1010 up for the same price as the 10ltr bostitch unit

I said I'd count today, and it's good for 29 to 30 pin nails - just in case you were interested.

I've got that one too lol yeah im a tool collector.

Seriously though that or the model before it was my first compressor that I bought. It was a 240v kit with18g nailer from DM tools. It is very noisy though.

I'm in good company then bit of a collector myself lol [smile], I think I'm going to start with the bostitch 16g nailer and pro hose and team them up with the senco 1010 and see how I get on then if I invest in the 1st fix nailer or feel the need for a larger compressor i'l see what options are available. Did the senco fit straight into a sys 5 or did you have to mod it in any way?

All I did was took the rubber feet off then it drops in on its back. I also changed the systainer lid for the mft one  for air flow. This also allowed me to put the hose through the centre hole. For the  power I have a 110v senco so I wired an  inline connector to the lead so I could pass that through the centre hole too.

I put a layer of foam under the compressor too to stop any rattle

Good stuff think i'l stick it in a Sys5 too is there room for the hose too? Did you buy an Mft Sys or just the lid?
I already have a SYS mft just swapped the lid, very easy to do. Yeah the hose fits in fine.

Try the 15g out if you can , I used their cordless 15g and the nail holes were huge, looked a right mess.
