Bowling Alley Table

Its a 90+ cm wide solid wood top with boards glued to the end grain. Does anyone else see a problem?

It is not solid wood top - lamination.

Yes, lamination of solid wood planks, which behaves just like solid wood. Namely, expands and contracts across the grain. Unless those are thin veneer strips glued on a ply substrate.

I've had bench tops from both shuffleboards and bowling alleys for 35 years. Only problem I've had is that the original finish would break up when pounded on. One top has a piece of trim glued and screwed along one edge and one end and shows no sign of any issue. And, they've moved with me to three different houses over the years. Maybe I've just been lucky all this time.  [wink]

Those legs are super cool.  It might be interesting to do something similar out of wood.  Maybe round over the notch into which the cross piece nests (semi circle rather than rectangle, and round that piece as well.
