I have an opportunity to buy a used Kapex for a decent price.
Are there any known issues to look out for?  How many versions of the Kapex have been produced?  How can you tell which version the saw is.  Any other tidbits would be welcomed.

Some early models introduced to the US had issues with tolerances that were too tight and the saw scraped when rotated.  A replacement plate was produced and supplied which corrected the issue.  There has only been one version or model in the US.

Other than that - hope that you will enjoy your new saw.

Only one version has been sold in the U.S.  The lock plate and lock handle material were changed out to allow more clearance when turning to miter.  I would assume the saw has had these parts changed if it's been in use.  If not it's only 2 screws to remove and install to change them yourself.  If the saw works, buy it.  They are all still under warranty as they haven't been out for 3 years yet.  The first year includes shipping paid by Festool the other 2 do not.

A little [off topic] but I just wanted to say that I think it is GREAT the Festool honors warranties beyond the original purchaser![thumbs up] Especially when it is so hard to get other companies to honor warranties at all.

Chris is correct regarding the regarding the parts, however, Festool pays shipping both ways in the 1st year, one way in the 2nd year and the customer pays both ways in the 3rd and later years.
