So ive had to replace my C18 after I burnt the motor out, the original drill I had must be 8 years old and had the battery level meter on the back of the handle, above the battery. This new version has done away with this, and in the manual now shows it on the front, but the drill I have has neither, which is a bit annoying, do the new airwave batteries, have a charge meter on them ?

The 3.1, 5.2 and 6.2 Airstream batteries all have an indicator.

Almost all of the chargers come with a manual (usually thicker than the manual for the tool itself) that should say with which batteries it's compatible; the body should also say, depending on how dirty or worn it is.

The TRC-3 and TCL-3 in my C-12 and C-18 systainers both have a little battery icon on them that says "Li-Ion, NiMH, NiCd", indicating that they're capable of charging all three types of batteries.  The SCA-8 on the shelf just says "Li-Ion" on it.

Yeah, there was a short time where the drills came with both the new belt clip and the old LED charge indicator. That was the dream! Only one of mine is from this glorious time :)

It's a shame, as it was a useful indicator, even alongside the battery indicators of the newer batteries. Much easier to see/use when holding the drill.
