Cabinet interiors clear finish or same stain as exterior?

I will soon be spraying some den birch plywood cabinets with General Finishes Cabernet stain.  I am curious whether it might be best to stain the interiors the same as the exterior or go with a lighter clear top coat.
What would be your preference?

I did a kitchen with the GF Medium Brown dye stain and a topcoat of the rosewood, followed by four coats of the General finishes high performance top coat in satin. The box interior can be very dark in that stain. The client loved it. I outsource drawers so they were clear coated.

I think it would be a good idea to go natural or light stain on the casework, if it's a kitchen. If it's a library or den, I would think it best to use the same finish as the front in the boxes.

Pompeio, its all personal perferance really.

I usually just spray the inside clear, becuse I build primarily euro cabs (LR 32) Ill  stain the edge band or get edge banding to match the exterior.

made these for my laundry room its still in work but it will give ya a idea

thanks, Its a new to me finish. I usually use GF finishes. This is Renner imported from Italy. Its a little thicker than the GF finishes, I had to use a larger N/N for my HVLP. But it came out good.

I've used GF's Clear Poly and High Performance a fair amount and like them (Clear Poly to spray, HP to brush).  Have been wanting to try Renner, which one did you use, and what setup?  How would you compare it to GF finishes?

I had spoken to John Adam’s before. If you’re new to spraying or want a nice consistent look the High Performance can be sprayed and it has a leveling chemical? To reduce brush marks.  I also use a Semi Gloss for my coats. If you like satin, just coat the last coat with that finish?

I sanded my interior of a cabinet I  built and sprayed it with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat "Gloss".  I thought it looked nice.

Closed interiors will hold odors much longer than exterior finishes.  For that reason, I would not stain the interior with an oil-based stain or any finish that would out-gas odors.
