i already have the ct 36 and dont want to have to buy the auto clean version for the planex lhs 225. i heard that your not supposed to use the planex with the ct 36. is that true? also would it be ok with the addition of the ct cyclone?

You can use the Planex with any vac you want, but some options are better than others. The Planex will produce high amounts of drywall compound/plaster dust and that dust will clog the pores of your bags very quickly. Quickly like in, it will clog you bag when it is hardly 1/4 full.

So that's why it is preferable to use the autoclean version of the CT because that one uses no bags, so there are no pores that can clog, only the filter, and that gets cleaned by the autoclean function.

I've been using the RO150 lately for sanding plaster in my home, combined with a cyclone on my CTL Midi, and it does work OK for me. Lots of dust gets caught by the cyclone, so my bags now last much longer.

But if you're a professional you might think about getting the proper tool for the job.

This can be done, but if you're working on a construction site you may be in violation of OSHA silica regulations. In general, the extra-fine dust produced when sanding drywall compound tends to clog the pores of the fleece bags. Removing the motor and tapping the bag helps, but ultimately plan on discarding the bags when they're ~1/4 full. Adding a cyclone to a CT helps, but now you have a much "clunkier" setup, and the efficiency of cyclonic separation tends to decrease with really fine dust.

If you're planning on sanding drywall with any regularity you'll probably want to look at getting a vac with a pulsed filter. The Nilfisk (and the various re-brands) are a great value in this arena. The Flex is available at a very reasonable price:https://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/flex-444251
