The answer is yes (homedepot.ca), BUT you need to follow these steps:

- Leave a note in your online order that you are going to pay by gift card
- Proceed to check out and pay your online order with a CREDIT CARD
- After completing your online check-out, send an email to HD with your order #, and request your online order to be paid by your gift card
- HD will apply a credit back to your credit card for your purchase order, using the gift card details you provide in your email.

UNBELIEVABLE, EH?

Last time I used a "Store Credit" in the USA it was super simple. No credit card needed. (Never gotten a gift card before.)

Although with all the theft loss at Home Depot they have been changing the rules making it harder for thieves to generate revenue by returning new goods, getting a store credit, then selling it via Ebay or locally. Home Depot requires an ID that matches the store credit these days.

The store in Richmond California had a 15% theft loss rate!

Are you referring to using the store credits in store? Can you use store credits online?

I have used store credits in the past online, but that may have changed.
