My Carvex 400 cordless jigsaw is acting up.

When I need to remove the blade the slide sometimes does not move across enough to release the blade, also when putting a new blade the 'chuck' does not revolve enough to get the blade in straight and I sometimes have to shove it round with a screwdriver. Same problem really.

The other problem is that the blade stops in the wrong position, i.e. at the bottom of the stroke so that I cannot remove the blade from the 'chuck'.

I wondered if I should try a squirt of WD40 or perhaps a silicone spray on the 'chuck'part ? or just return it to Festool. This is not my main jigsaw, only one I use if it'sa quick job or too much trouble to get out the mains and power extension lead.

It's been okay apart from this.

Others from overseas have reported similar issues.  It seems that the synching gets off and the blade does not stop in the uppermost position where it needs to be be to eject the blade, etc.  I think JMB had this issue and said that if you turn it back on and let it run for a little bit it would correct itself.  To check and see  if this is happening to you, turn on your machine and with the strobes working see if the blade appears "still".  If not, let it run again until it does.

If this continues I would suggest sending it in for service.

Thanks Peter

Actually I have done that and sometimes it works and other times it takes a while to sort. Also you've just reminded me that strobe doesn't always work either  :o

I think I'll send it back, no harm done.

This was one of the many complains with the Carvex 400.
But the problem subscribed by tdfiver is still the same with the new Carvex 420.
But other problems are (nearly) all solved with the Carvex 420.

If you complain about the problems a lot you might get an exchange for the Carvex 420.

Hi tdfiver,
I sent mine back with this problem. When it returned it was just the same as before. I then phoned tts up about it and they sent me the 420 out no problem.i did not ask for the 420 it was them that suggested it to me.
Hope this helps.

Cheers Tom
