Carvex 420 jigsaw blade holder cannot rotate

Hi guys,

I just got a Festool Carvex 420 jigsaw. It is brand new but I insert the blade it seems to be impossible to rotate the blade to lock it. In Youtube video, the rotation to lock the blade seems to be effortless. But mine simply cannot rotate at all. I have spent quite a bit of time to figure out why. I am pretty sure the blade was fully inserted.

Is there anything I can adjust? Otherwise, I have to send it back to the seller.

Thanks.

The OP is old but I have the same problem. I can reach my finger in and rotate it back with effort. Nobody responded originally. Hopefully someone has a solution?

Hi, in my case, the seller asked Festool support. They said if I made a replacement it would be same. With that info, I decided to return it.

It might be a dumb question, and likely too late anyway, but di either of you try a different blade?
It seems like there is a thickness issue with some of them.
One of the actual Festool blades that came with mine would not fit it. Every other one I have tried in the years since has worked just fine. It seems like the ones that are painted or otherwise coated in some way are the problem.

It mostly happens when the blade guide is not adjusted to the right width/ or simply opened up enough. Very rare occurrence for me, but when it happens opening up the blade guide will make the blade slide in effortless and the holder engages immediately.

To the best of my knowledge/observation it happens because the back part of the T shaft needs a bit of wiggle room/ go back far enough for the lock to engage which it can't when the blade guide is too constricting/ in the way.

As [member=58857]Crazyraceguy[/member] mentioned, it also seems to be happening to me with almost exclusively the old-style painted/coated Festool blades which are pretty thick compared to other blades.

When it happens it's also quite annoying, because I have to remember this solution, and sometimes I forget and fiddle with it for minutes before I realize that I already know how to deal with it. ;)

Kind regards,
Oliver
