Really wish I could get better with the Carvex.

I recently saw this review and completely agree with the results.

Bottom line is it is a great jigsaw.  I'm a top handle guy mostly and I now know I'm not the only user that can't get a grip on the Carvex PSB.

Festool makes product improvements all the time and I mostly appreciate that.  Just fix it!

I do own the second best in the review and I don't like the Milwaukee for two reasons, one is the foot has a big u shaped opening for the blade that hangs up when free handing a radius.  Second is that the clear splinter guard is is the foot not the no-mar over shoe. Just stupid and why would it be that way?  M12 and M18's are that way as are many other brands.

I’ve only used two jigsaws that don’t immediately eject their anti-spinter guard inserts: Mafell and Festool.  I can list a dozen cons about the Carvex, but my personal deal or no deal is the anti-splinterguard and thus my cordless jigsaw is a Carvex.  If you’re team D-Handle or bust...yuhh, Festo d-handles are crap.  I briefly owned the brushless Makita barrel grip and it was better than the Carvex in ergonomics, build quality, “straight cuts”, vibration, power and so on.  Unfortunately, it spits out splinterguards, is always set to “A mode”, no matter the speed, and has a ridiculous power on/off + motor on/off push switch thing going for it.  The Makita D-Handle is probably awesome if you can put up with the cons I mentioned.  The Bosch D-Handle was pretty sweet but lacked power.  I’ve heard good about the Dewlt and bad about the Milwaukee.

The ergonomics of the carvex’s D handle are awful. I fixed mine by enlarging the trigger with a lump of milliput (sugru) and it’s way better now.

I'm a barrel-grip convert. Having had a Bosch corded for many years and adding the earliest version of Makita cordless, as soon as it became available (late 08-early 09?). I was never impressed with that Makita. It worked ok, but was overly heavy for what it was. When I was destroyed a couple of years ago, I never replaced it. That is when I bought the Carvex. It is nearly as quick to deploy as the cordless because of the plug-it cable always being ready in the CT. I always kept the Bosch in the case and had to deal with the cord every time I needed it.
I don't use a jigsaw that much and even then only for sink cutouts or small notches, nothing precise.

MrB has a real solution to what must be the most uncomfortable trigger in the history of power tools. I used the same stuff on my corded carvex and  my recently purchased cordless carvex.
Whoever designed that trigger must have a sharp cornered rectangular head.....

I recently bought a D-handle Carvex off festool.recon. Unfortunately the trigger switch ergonomics are everything said above. I just ordered some Milliput and we will see how that goes, otherwise it goes on Classifieds.
