Changing router bits on OF 1400 while installed on the CMS

Hi all.  Was wondering if it's possible to change router bit while the OF 1400 is installed on the CMS plate AND the main fence is seated.  Once I get the main fence unit dialed in and the router attached, I'd rather not tear the whole thing apart.  I know I have to dial back the fence, but I don't want to unscrew the fence unit from the plate.  Lastly, when I ask is it possible, I mean possible without being Macgyver.

Yes it's possible. Most videos show the fence removed, but I think that is more to make the video clearer than it is an access issue. You do need to make sure the OF 1400 is switched off though so that you can use the ratchet.

Do it all the time.

Just slide the fence sides left/right. When you’re done changing the bit bring the sides in to there proper location. Make sure you tighten the four thumb bolts.

As Jerry said the 1400 switch must be in the off position for the ratchet to work.

This was on of my reasons for working on adapting my Incra fence on a Precision plate with my MFT + VL. I know there are also options for doing this on the stand alone CMS.
