Cheap part for a change

My OF 1400 took a tumble and the top cover snapped off at the adjuster portion. I wasn't going to replace it figuring it would cost $50 but the shipping was more expensive than the part. Only $6.30 for the top housing piece. It's an in stock item at M&M Tool parts which tells me I'm not the only one that's done this before.

I think M&M tools is a great place.  I have found several, Festool related, parts there including their knobs.  Its a good place and prices are always good.

I have never heard of them. I have always gotten parts from Hartville Hardware or Highland Woodworking.
The took the parts/service department out of my local dealer's place. I don't know why though?
Not enough volume for the space? Too much hassle? No one qualified to do it anymore?

M&M are local for me.  They do have an awesome repair parts selection for many brands and a large selection of machines on the floor.  Usually small parts are in stock and they do lots of repair work.  Great resource.

I've spent thousands of dollars there but sadly stopped going in several years ago when they refused to honor their web price for an in person purchase.  Issue was not a simple one-off discrepancy either.  At that point bulk of accessories on the shelves were about 15% more than on website and nothing on shelves is priced, you don't know what it will cost until you are at the sales counter.  Less than best practice IMO.

I owned a retail store for 30+ years, it was just a bit more of a chuckle-head stupid a policy than I could deal with, LOL. [tongue]

They are very "not local" for me, but even I have had a good experience with them.

A fellow contractor wanted a new bladeguard for his older model Dewalt SCMS, the part was discontinued, but I found a few stores online that still had stock.
After I placed the order, with a hefty shipping cost (USA to Belgium); I got an email from Gaby warning me that there will probably be duty costs involved, and if I would like to cancel the order.

The part arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was as described. Overal It became a pricey part, but the store that had it in stock in Germany was still more expensive.
