My daughter and I built a number of pieces of furniture together. My wife suggested that I build a chest of drawers as a wedding present for my daughter and new son-in-law.  I based the new project on a dresser that we had built before.  This is the starting point.

And this is how it ended up.  We built a shop dolly to help move it around.

Nice! I rather like the look of your raised-panel style drawer fronts.  [smile]

The drawer fronts were made using the table saw.  A lot of clean up with a cabinet scraper was required.

Absolutely beautiful. Nice Job.
If you don't mind me asking, Where did you get your wood from? A local source?

Nice work!  How did you cut the curved lamination in the sides?!

thanks for sharing!

We got the Ash from a local saw mill 15 years ago.  It was kiln dried but rough milled. It really gave my little Delta planer a work out. This was the last of the 200 board foot at $1 a foot.  The walnut was from a downed tree on my uncles farm.

Family heirloom for sure
1.  Make sure you sign and date the back so future generation will know where it came from
2.  Make some extra door pulls and stash them inside in case of breakage
3.  Looks like the drawers were carefully fitted.  Make sure you label top, 2nd from top, etc.  Someone will pull it apart on a move and they will get frustrated if they don't keep them ordered when they try to fit back together

Great piece and a collector's piece from the standpoint of ash as all of the trees are dying from ther asian emerald bore.

Very nice work and beautiful lines. Im sure she loves it. Girls seem to really appreaciate and love when daddy builds them something . i know my daughters do. They rather Dad build it then go buy it.

The method for the curved lamination.

Selected the rough stock.
