Can I use the 483922 Trammel unit with my OF1400 router?

If not, is there a jog or fixture from Festool to make circles with this router?

THANKS

As far as I am aware that part is for the baby OF1010. I am not aware of a specific Festool accessory but it is really easy to make up something of your own.

What size circles are you trying to create?

It's trivial to build a trammel from ply to use with the copy ring that comes with your router.

Here's my brutal one-off use version but I'm sure one could make a really fancy adjustable one just as easily:

If you prefer a factory made option maybe the MFS would be an option since it includes the trammeling holder (the square with a hole in it in the picture) as well.

Hi Reiska

I keep forgetting about the MFS - partly because you cannot discover it on the UK web site unless you know the part number. It is also quite expensive.

I recognise that pin in your trammel.

You could also use the rods included with the 1400 and make a block that clamps to the rods and has a trammel point.  Infinitely adjustable - up to the length of your rods ( you can buy longer rods from a metal supplier.

Just a thought.

You can also use the Jasper Jigs, both large and small. You will need to drill the jigs for the extra holes in the OF1400 base and get a couple of M6 bolts. This will allow you to make circular cuts smaller than the base as well as cuts up to 18 in diameter.

It would be interesting how you guys work your way around having to drill a hole or mark the center with a pin. Many times the center is going to be visible and won't look nice with a hole in it. I'm currently working on a contraption just to avoid that. But maybe you guys have got some ideas or even made your own jigs for that purpose? I'll get back when I got some pics on my prototype.

Hello Festool Viking

There are loads of ways of avoiding the hole in the centre. The easiest is to stick a small plywood pad, which has your trammel hole in it, in the right place on your wood. You can use double sided tape, releasable glue or some very fine pins to fix the pad in place.

Another way is to have a sacrificial board, larger than your circle placed on top of your smart piece of wood. You can screw the two together in the waste areas at the four corner. Your trammel hole is only in the sacrificial board.

There are a number of pantographic solutions too.

Peter (not me) had some great suggestions.  If you want to go high tech you could make a vacuum clamp block that serves as the sacrificial trammel pivot but you would have to maneuver around the hose unless it went straight up.

Ok! Contraption finished

Here is some pictures of what I came up with today. It's made to be used indoors since I've used a clamp to push the trammel against the plywood from the ceiling. Take a look and feel free to ask questions or add ideas for improvement.
