By chance, I received a bunch of surplus clamp pads from a local vendor. Pads can be bought on Amazon such as this:https://www.amazon.ca/Jorgensen-7437-Work-Protecting-Clamp/dp/B0000DD1R1 (Description on Amazon says it's made in USA, but the packaging on the image states it's made in China).
I replaced the flimsy ones on about 20 of my F-clamps with them.
